Anne Lovett :: Pianist & Composer
Anne Lovett is a pianist and composer with wide-ranging interests in classical and contemporary music, including jazz and ambient music. She works in London, Paris and Normandy, performing, recording, and teaching.
Career
Anne has taken part in many concerts of contemporary music and has played in numerous events and festivals in London and abroad. Recently she performed at an evening of contemporary music organised by the Society of Living Composers and curated by Stephen Crowe. In 2003 she played the music of Aaron Copland for the launch of Peter Dickinson’s book Copland Connotations: Studies and Interviews. The same year, Anne played for the English premiere of Philippe Hersant’s piano solo work Les éphémères.

Recent broadcasts include TV France 3, Mezzo and Radio France Musique, Radio France. Anne's concert in the Grande Salle at UNESCO headquarters in Paris was broadcasted on the TV network Mezzo.

In 2003 Anne was a prize winner at the European competition “Musique d’Ensemble” in Paris and more recently won the Third Prize at the International Competition of Chamber Music Citta di Pinerolo in Italy. Since 2002 she has been supported by the organisation Nouveaux Virtuoses, which helps promoting young talents.

Anne is involved in many different areas of the artistic world including composition work for various ensembles and collaboration with Irish actress Michele Moran.

Biography
Anne Lovett was born into an artistic Cherbourg family in 1979, her father being a violin maker and her mother a dancer. She began to play the piano at the age of three. At the same time her mother initiated her to dancing.

Showing outstanding gifts from an early age, she entered the Conservatoire National de Région de Caen at eight and went on to study at the Conservatoire National de Région de Rouen following her teacher Frédéric Aguessy.

In 1996 she was admitted at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris where she was taught by Alberto Neuman, a pupil of Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, and Pierre Réach’, winner of the Arthur Rubinstein First Grand Prize, and one of Rubinstein 's pupils. She also studied jazz and improvisation with Samy Abenaim, director of the Bill Evans Piano Academy in Paris.

In 1999 she was offered a place at the Royal Academy of Music in London with a scholarship to study piano with Hamish Milne. She studied piano jazz as a second study as well as composition with Ruth Byrchmore.

Anne has been working since her youth with her sister Maud Lovett, performing in festivals and concert halls including the Nouveaux Siècle in Lille in front of 3000 music lovers.

New projects
Anne is currently at work on a range of composition assignments including a soundtrack for the Planetarium Ludiver in Normandy, solo piano works, and a studio project with Keane and Dido Producer James Sanger.
