Art Profile : Emre Elivar was born in Ankara in 1976. Between 1981 and 1987, he learned piano from Prof. Kamuran Gündemir. He graduated from the Piano and the Composition Department in the State Conservatoire Ankara with distinction in 1996. Emre received a scholarship from DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) and continued postgraduate study at the Music Academy "Carl Maria von Weber" in Dresden with Prof. Peter Rösel from 1996 to 1999. He received his master’s degree with distinction in January 1999. He completed his virtüözite doctorate "Meisterklassestudium" with Prof. Georg Sava at the Hanns Eisler Music Academy.

He has won many prizes in many international piano contests: 1998: the fourth prize at the 7th International Piano Contest “Perfecto Garcia Chornet” in Valencia/Spain. 1999: the third prize at the 16th International Piano Contest “Cidado do Porto” in Porto/Portugal; the second prize (the first prize was not given away) and special prize for the best interpretation of a piece by J. S. Bach and a piece of romantic period at the 7th International “Bremer Klavierwettbewerb’99”. 2000: the third prize at 42nd International “World Piano Competition” in Cincinnati, USA. 2001: the winner of Steinway-Prize. 2002: the winner of Arthur-Schnabel-Prize. 2003: the winner of the Piano Contest “Vendôme-Prize” for Germany and Switzerland.

Since 1999, he has given many concerts with Bilkent Symphony Orchestra, Istanbul Symphony Orchestra, Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra, Berliner Symphony Orchestra (Konzerthausorchester Berlin), Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie, Orquestra Nacional do Porto, and the Litvanya Chamber Orchestra both in Turkey and abroad. Emre Elivar has been teaching piano at Berlin Hanns Eisler Music Academy since 2005.
